Obituary of Joan E. Amedio

     Joan E. Amedio, 70, of Buskirk, NY.  The Lord called her home from Samaritan Hospital on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, following a brief illness.  Born in Hoosick Falls; Joan was the daughter of the late Floyd and Elizabeth "Betty" Castle. She was raised in Pittstown, Petersburg and Wynantskill and graduated from Troy High School in 1966.  She became a housewife in 1966 when she married Joseph P. Amedio.  Shortly after, she became Mom to three wonderful children.

     Joan loved her family!  She also had a love for her dogs, creating art and crafts, her gardening and flowers, and nature.  She had a love for her church family at Oakwood Bible Church, where she volunteered as an art teacher at the Christian School.  Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

     In addition to her husband, Joe, she is survived by a son: Joseph R. (Diane) Amedio of Westerlo; two daughters: Jennifer (Tom) Danaher of Averill Park and Jacqueline (Christine) Amedio of Clifton Park; brothers: Stanton (Betty) Castle of Snyder's Lake, Arthur (Bonnie) Castle of Colonie and a sister: Hazel (Harvey) Scott of FL; grandchildren: Rebecca Amedio, Joseph R. Amedio, Jr., and Andrew Amedio, all of Westerlo, and Jonathan Rogers, Jr., Thomas P. Danaher IV and Zachary J. Danaher all of Averill Park.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers: Ted Castle and Ray Castle.

     The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon at 5:00 PM at the Oakwood Bible Church, 260 Oakwood Avenue, Troy, NY 12180 with the Rev. James Dujack, Pastor, officiating. 

     Friends are invited and may call at the church for one hour prior to the funeral, beginning at 4:00 PM.  There will be a time of fellowship and refreshments following the service.

     The interment will be at the Warren Cemetery, 427 Warren Cemetery Road, Pittstown, NY on Monday morning at 10:00 AM.

     Joan would request that, in lieu of flowers, any contributions in her memory be sent to the Oakwood Bible Church, at the above address.
