Obituary of Dorothy R. Callahan
Dorothy R. “Dottie”, “Dot” Gunther Callahan, 92 of Frear Avenue, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her family and care givers in the comfort of her home on Sunday, June 10, 2018.
Born in Lansingburgh, she was the daughter of the late Clifford A. and the late Ella A. Blanchard Gunther and the stepdaughter of the late Margaret LeFleur Gunther. Dorothy was the beloved wife for nearly 53 years to Paul F. Callahan, who passed away on December 28, 1999. She was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1944.
Mrs. Callahan was a homemaker who enjoyed every moment of being a dedicated and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren traveling with them and taking them to local attractions.
Mrs. Callahan had been active with her children’s activities with Cub Scout Pack #63, their schools PTA and with Youth for Christ at the former Brunswick Presbyterian Church (presently Brunswick Church) where she was very involved with many Church activities and worshipped for many years. She had previously been a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church and First Presbyterian Church of Lansingburgh.
Devoted mother of David P. Callahan of Albany, Patricia L. (John) Debboli of Brunswick and the late Michael P. Callahan, mother-in-law of Sharon Calano of Newport News, VA, cherished grandmother of Michelle Payne, Shannon Callahan, Laura Debboli, Andrea Debboli and Leah Debboli, adored great grandmother of Michael, Cassi, Brandon and Katlyn, also survived by 7 great-great grandchildren and by her feline companion, Tori.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Brunswick Church, 42 White Church Lane, Troy, NY 12180.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY 12180 on Thursday from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M.
Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
Dorothy’s family would like to thank the many individuals who helped care for her allowing her to remain in her home.
