Obituary of Harwood W. McCart, Jr.

         Harwood W. “Mac” McCart, 79, passed away on Monday June 11, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital after a short illness.  Born in White Creek, NY to the late Harwood and Dorothy McCart, he graduated from Berlin H.S. in 1956.  He joined the New York State Police in 1961 where he retired as a decorated investigator in 1983, having worked in Brunswick, Loudonville, New York City and East Greenbush.  He worked on many high profile cases and was considered an exceptional undercover investigator.

          His interests included a life long love of cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles, cigars, and spending time with his family and many friends.  Mac is survived by his three children: Scott (Sheilah) of Clifton Park, NY; Paul (Kelley) of Cumming, GA and Lynda (Daniel) MacDonald of Saratoga Springs, NY and their mother Bonnie Powell,  as well as eight grandchildren: Ryan, Sean and Liam McCart; Kyle, Jonathan and Eric McCart and James (Jimmy) and Madelyn MacDonald.  He is also survived by a brother Terrance (Sue) McCart and a sister Cheryl Giumarra (Hank).

          At Mac’s request, there will be no services.  The family would like to thank the Saratoga Hospital staff for their care and compassion and the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home for their services.
