Obituary of Willis S. Ash, IV
Willis S. Ash, IV, 65, of Troy, beloved husband of Marlene B. Leno Ash, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by his loving family at home on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Born in Troy, New York, he was the son of the late Willis S. and Theresa Foucher Ash, III and was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1979. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps following graduation and proudly served active duty until 1983. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Marksmanship Badge-Rifle, Meritorious Unit Citation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and his Honorable Discharge in 1985 after two years of reserve service. Willis was very proud and honored to have served on the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. at the end of the term for President Jimmy Carter as well as for the beginning of the term of President Ronald Reagan.
Willis had been employed at Wolberg Lighting Design and Electrical Supply in Albany.
He loved fishing, music, walking, and weight lifting.
Beloved husband of Marlene, devoted father of Silvia (Josh) Ash, Jonathan Ash, Heath Ash and the late Amanda Ash, dear brother of Pamela (Chris) Petersen, Dennis Ash, Cynthia (Mike) Leno and Lisa (William) Deerfield, cherished grandfather of Anthony and Nathan Ash, Abigail Cubit, Brantley Thibodeau and Hunter Ward, dear son-in-law of John Leno, the late Marlene Jourdanais and the late Emma Leno, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 11th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be held with military honors in the Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
Marlene and her son would like to express their most sincere gratitude to their family, friends and co-workers for their loving support during Willis’s courageous battle.
