Obituary of Larry A. Sheffield

Troy - Larry A. Sheffield, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 18, 2017 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy on January 8, 1944, the youngest of three siblings,  he is the son of the late Elise Hill and Brit Sheffield.

Larry attended St. Augustine's School in Lansingburgh and La Salle Institute in Troy, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011. He then graduated from The University of Notre Dame, where he was named an All-American for his play on the basketball court. Larry went on to become an accomplished businessman on Wall Street.

Larry is survived by his loving daughters, Yolanda Elise (Andrew Williams) Sheffield-Williams and Gretchen Nicole Sheffield; his cherished grandchildren, Lindsay Sheffield Lee, Perri Sheffield Lee, Zoe Sheffield Lee and Tate Williams; his nieces, Cynthia Thomas, Nadine Sheffield, Andrea Little; and his nephews, James Thompson, Ronald Sheffield, William Thompson. He is also survived by a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his siblings, Lewey Sheffield and Barbara Thompson.

Calling hours for Larry will be held on Saturday June 24th from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Ave. Troy, NY 12182. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
