Obituary of James E. Connery
James Edward “Ned” Connery, 87, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and formerly of both Lansingburgh, NY and Port Orange, FL, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at The Arbors at Stow in Stow, OH.
Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late William and Lucie Doyle Connery and the beloved husband for 50 years to Jeanne M. Ahearn Connery, until her passing on December 26, 2012. Ned was a graduate of LaSalle Institute, Class of 1955 in Troy and served as a PFC in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1958, when he received his Honorable Discharge.
Mr. Connery retired after 41 years of dedicated service from Albany Felt/Albany International in Menands where he was a Weaver.
Ned was an avid Yankee and Giants fan. Ned coached in the Lansingburgh Little League and was a statistician for The Troy Patriots Pop Warner football organization. He enjoyed visiting his grandchildren and spending time with his late wife at their camp in the Adirondack Mountains at Brant Lake. Ned was a friend to everyone he met. Ned was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.
Survived by his sons James Jr. of Port Orange, FL and John (Pamela) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; daughters Jeanne (Steve) Starr of Albany, NY and Janice of Norcross, GA, sister Andrea Moran, four grandchildren Jacob, Ethan, McKenna and Colin, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews and cousins. Ned was predeceased by his twin brother Rev. J. Thomas “Tom” Connery and brother William Connery.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 24th , 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue in Lansingburgh, Troy, NY 12182 followed by interment on Friday with military honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday October 24th from 5 to 7 p.m.
