Obituary of Jermaine R. Demand
Jermaine R. “Jaymo” Demand, 50, of Schenectady, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his residence.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Robert Earl Demand and the late Martha Jones Demand Pounds (late, William Pounds Jr.)and grandson of the late Charlie Mae Jones Woodrow Fortner and the late Bernice Robinson.
Jaymo enjoyed watching football, particularly the Washington Redskins, and basketball, cheering for the Spurs. He was a fan of criminal TV shows, “The Mask Singer,” and loved staying up late watching movies and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Cheley Robinson Demand; his children, Karlo Stebbins of Troy, NY, Giniqua Crawford of Granville, NY, Shedeana Demand of Schenectady, NY, Jay-Von Wilson of Schenectady, NY, Muriel Crawford of Granville, NY, Allana (Matthew) Rorick of Stillwater, NY, Cami (Andrew) Samuelson of Schuylerville, NY, Andrew (Tammy) Jansson of Troy, NY, Jonathan Jansson of Troy, NY, Jazmine (Brian) McCants of Troy, NY, and Makayla Fox-Soloman of Troy, NY., his siblings are Robert Demand, Corey Demand, Jason Pounds, Rashon Pounds, and Dante McCray of Troy,Yma Pounds-McCray, Sha-Nae (E. Fox) Pounds, Sierra Pounds of Troy, NY, and Grace Demand of Watervliet, NY, also survived by 13 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, a host of aunts, uncles including Cynthia (Benjamin) Rountree,Tyron (Kim) Dennis, David Jameison, Annette Nelson, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his goddaughter, Jordan (Josephine - Josephine, you know what I mean) McCray and special friend Flirence (Flo) Vandeusen.
A Home Going Service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home (corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue, Lansingburgh). A calling hour will precede the service from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
