I would like to remember Edna as a friend as well as my Mother-in-law. We shared many deep conversations over the years. Bird always made you feel wiser than you were by how intently she listened to what you were saying.
Bird was a shinning example of what it was to be part of the “Greatest Generation”. Having lived through the challenges of the 2nd World War she had an inner strength that guided her to 97 years young.
As evidenced by some of the photos posted she had an inner grace that shown through. But one of her finest qualities was her ability to laugh at herself for her “Birdisms”.
Bird, I love you and will forever be a better man for having known you. Your friend Ray.

Very well said. You highlight some of the things that made her special. Being able to laugh at ourselves and truly listen (and hear) others is so rare now. She will be missed.

These are my favorite memories of Bird: handing me flowers at the homecoming ceremony, organizing car rallies, enjoying a wine and cheese picnic with me, driving around England (with Marg and Ed), enjoying her birthday bash at the Wall St Residence, attending Hannah’s graduation ceremony, and our last activity, coloring a bird together to the sounds of Vera Lynn. With love, always, Bird. Kathy Xoxo

Bird was a beautiful, kind woman who always laughed so freely. I loved listening to her beautiful accent and her stories about times past. She was a wonderful person who will leave a great legacy through her family. May she rest in peace.
