Obituary of Doreen P. Alexander
Doreen P. (Reinhardt) Alexander, 64, of Clifton Park, peacefully passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at her home, surrounded by the loving comfort of her husband, James P. Alexander, and his sons, Dr. J. Nicholas and Anna Alexander, and Steven R. Alexander, and friend Carol Christensen. Dory was born in Oyster Bay, NY, the cherished daughter of the late August and Kathleen Reinhardt.
Dory graduated with an MBA from Pace University and enjoyed a successful career, holding positions at The Wall Street Journal, New York University, Trustco Bank, and the University at Albany. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in various pursuits, including being an avid skier, exploring her creative talent in painting, and nurturing her garden. Always active outdoors, she enjoyed bicycling, kayaking, and camping in both the Adirondacks and across the country. Dory had a passion for exploring new places and made numerous travels around the world. She actively contributed to the arts community as a member of the Colonie Art League and shared her love for skiing as a valued member of the Albany Ski Club as well as being a longtime weekend resident and board member at the Summit at Gore Mountain.
Dory enjoyed hosting and entertaining, bringing family and friends together for skiing and boating, creating cherished memories for all. Never hesitant to give a ski lesson, she also treated everyone to her gourmet delights, as she loved trying out and creating new recipes.
Above all else, Dory loved her family and friends. She is survived by her beloved siblings, Eileen Reinhardt and Kathleen and Steven (Reinhardt) Mindlin. She will be deeply missed by her nephews and nieces, Dr. Frank Mindlin and Dr. Daniela Boldikova, and Lisa and Anthony (Mindlin) Carlo, as well as her great nieces, Juliana and Mackenzie. Dory is further survived by her first husband, James E. Crosby, and nephews Timothy and Brian Crosby.
