CHARLOTTE JOAN LENNEK
Charlotte Joan Lennek nee Phelan, age 90 from Elkridge Maryland, died September 18, 2016 after a wonderful life centered around her family.
Charlotte was born on March 12, 1926, in Troy, New York. Graduating high school a year early, she was a secretary and model and married the love of her life, Eugene Lennek after his return from World War II. She raised five children while living in four different states, before settling in Maryland in 1991.
Survivors include son, Thomas Lennek and wife Caroline of Rolla, MO; grandson Michael Lennek and wife Annie of Sunnyvale CA; granddaughter Megan Lennek and husband Christopher Batchelor of Shawnee, KS; granddaughter Meredith Simons and husband Jacob, great grandson Asher and great granddaughter Leighton of Greenville, NC; son Timothy Lennek and wife Linda Backus of Centennial, CO; granddaughter Lindsey Lennek and grandson Collin Lennek of Denver, CO; son Peter Lennek and wife Connie of Dayton, TX; grandson Shane Lennek and wife Misty, of Baytown, TX; granddaughter Codie Garcia and husband Ben, great granddaughters Adalynn and Kaitlynn of Dayton, TX; daughter Mary Benson and husband Norman of Lower Lake, CA; step grandson Jeff Benson and wife Trisha, step granddaughter Indra of Reno, NV; step grandson Lee Benson of Portland, OR; and daughter Joan Brittingham of Laurel, MD; grandson Zachary Brittingham of Baltimore and granddaughter Hayley Brittingham of State College, PA; sister Mary Wiley of Troy, NY and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; parents, Fred V. and Anna Phelan, and sister Roseann Roe.
She was a devoted Baltimore Ravens fan, and loved watching them and the Olympic Games on television. She was an avid reader, and constant patron of the Howard County Library System. She especially loved her large and geographically dispersed family and strived to gather them at one location for the family reunions that she sponsored in various states for 25 years. She was fascinated with technology, was an active computer gamer, and used her desktop computer, iPhone and iPad to keep in touch with family.
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and the people whose lives she touched with her love, sense of humor, intelligence, and generosity.
Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a service at 10:30 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182, followed by inurnment at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville at 12:30 p.m.
