Obituary of Donald Gentry

Donald Gentry, 64 of South Troy, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Born in Troy, New York, he was the son of the late Ethel Ashley Davis and the late William Gentry and was a graduate of Troy High School. Mr. Gentry served in the United States Marine Corps from 1976-1977 and received his Honorable Discharge as well as the Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Marksmanship Badge.

Donald was always gainfully employed at a variety of area contractors and companies.

He loved all sports, was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and had served as an Altar Boy at the former St. Peter’s Church in Troy.

Father of Lucas Thomas and Christopher Franklin, brother of Keith (Maria) Gentry, Lorraine (Jay) Dancey, Lillian (Scott) Hubbard, John Gentry and Leonard (Melanie) Davis, also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by his Home Going Service at 10:30 a.m. both at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 514 Seventh Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.

Interment with full military honors will be held in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY 12871 at 12:30 .m. that afternoon.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.
