Obituary of Robert J. Robillard

Robert J. Robillard, 85, of Lansingburgh died on Sunday March 26, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Cohoes, NY on August 31, 1931 and was the son of the late Arthur and Bertha Goodrow Robillard. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy, Class of 1949, RPI Class of 1961 where he received his degree in Chemical Engineering. He was the beloved husband of the late Joanne M. Tague Robillard, who died in 2004. Bob was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from General Electric in 1990 as a Chemical Engineer, having worked for the GE Silicones and Plastic Divisions in Waterford and Selkirk. Bob holds several patents and that are still in use by GE. He was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Colonie Lodge of Elks, a member and past president of the Van Schaick Island Country Club from 1970 – 1979. He was a member of the Silicone Retirees Assn. at GE. Bob was a faithful and active communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh. He had been a lector and enjoyed the former Smokers at St. Augustine’s. He was also a member of the church bowling league. An avid golfer, Bob achieved the status and joy of having a Hole-in-One at 80 years of age. He was a former member and secretary of the Men’s Club at Sacred Heart Church in Cohoes.
He was the devoted father of Kimberly A. Hostig of Halfmoon, Joy A. (Michael) Doran of East Hampton, CT and the late Carla A. Sullivan; cherished grandfather of David J. (Jamie) Hostig of N. Greenbush, Jonathan W. Hostig of Boca Raton, FL and Christina M. Sullivan of Boca Raton, FL. He is also survived by his dearest friend, Jan LaVallee of East Hampton, CT and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Thursday morning at 8:45 from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., Cor. of 115th. Street & 4th. Avenue in Lansingburgh, thence to St. Augustine’s Church Lansingburgh where at 9:30 the Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday in the funeral home.
Entombment will be in St. Agnes’s American Saints Mausoleum in Menands, NY.
