Obituary of John F. O'Donnell
John (Jack) F. O’Donnell, 90, of Clifton Park and formerly of Lansingburgh, peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, New York.
Born in Troy, New York, he was the son of the late Peter and Bess Prangley O’Donnell and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School before attending Siena College in Loudonville. He then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Jack retired from a career in Banking/Finance with KeyBank in Albany where he had been Vice President of Direct Lending. He had previously been employed by Household Finance, where he held several leadership positions.
Jack was an avid dog owner and New York Giants fan, loved gardening, doing yard work, puttering around the house, enjoying a cold beer and a glass of wine, watching westerns and Seinfeld, but loved his grandchildren the most. He had been a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh and more recently at Corpus Christi Church in Clifton Park.
Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife, Virginia C. Kline O’Donnell. He entered in eternal life on the same date as Virginia did – 39 years later. The family knows they are together in heaven.
Devoted father of Mary (John) Emery, cherished grandfather of Megan and Lauren Emery.
Jack’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Albany Medical Center Hospital ER staff as well as to the staff on the C-4 Unit for the wonderful care Jack received and the tremendous support provided to the family.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, New York 12204, in memory of John F. O’Donnell.
Private funeral arrangements were entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, New York 12182.
