Obituary of Frances T. Sheifer

Frances T. Sheifer, 98, of Clifton Park, died peacefully of natural causes at home on July 8, 2021.

Born January 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Walter Herald, Sr. and Cleo Barcomb Shaver.  She was educated in Troy, NY and was a longtime communicant of the former St. Peter’s Church in Troy.

Fran was the widow of Charles P. Sheifer, Sr. who passed away in 2001.  For over 35 years, she and her husband owned and operated the Cozy Corner bar and restaurant in Troy.

Survivors include her son, Charles P. Sheifer, Jr., and daughter-in-law and caregiver, Carole Sheifer, of Ballston Lake; granddaughter Carly, grandson Adam, great-grandson Wesley; sisters Diane Berlino of Troy and Priscilla Shaughnessy of Agoura Hills, California, brothers Robert Shaver of Berne and Jacob Shaver of Troy; nephew and godson John Herald, Sr. of Watervliet; aunt Kathleen Quillinan of Troy, uncle Robert Gorman of Troy, and many, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Tabor, Ruth Millard, Theresa Terry, Shirley Whitehead, and brothers William Herald and Walter Herald, Jr.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. 

There will be no public viewing hours.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to LaSalle Institute in Troy or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
