Obituary of Erica Lynn Ladu

Erica Lynn Ladu, 31, of Stoney Creek Dr., Clifton Park died at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany on Thursday January 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on Nov. 8, 1985 in Ticonderoga, NY and was the beloved daughter of Christine A. Pennock Ladu of Clifton Park and Mark P. (Laura) Ladu of Lake George, NY. She was a graduate of Shenendehowa High School and the College of St. Rose. She was a teacher for the Shenendehowa Central School District, teaching in the Koda Middle School. Previously she taught at other local schools across the area as well as in Charlotte, N. Carolina. At Shenedehowa, Erica started the club to support our military troops which she felt strongly about. Erica’s smile and persona lite up rooms and made people happy to be around her. She loved the outdoors, camping, boating, kayaking and doing her countdown to Christmas. Enjoying birthdays, social times, holidays, but most importantly in her life was family, friends and her dog “Wrangler”. Her entrepreneurial spirit was shown by the many business she started over the years. Loving to travel, she made friends everywhere she went. It was important to Erica to educate and make people aware of Melanoma and its impact on her life. Survivors in addition to her parents include her maternal grandfather William W. Pennock, Jr. (Linda) of Holiday, FL and the late Frances Pennock; Paternal grandfather Edwin (the late Carol) Ladu of Charlton, NY; Aunts include Joanne Ostrowski (James), Marylynn Arbour (David), Theresa Scott (David), Maureen Hearn (Sean) and Uncles William Pennock (Susan), and Kurt Ladu (Patricia). Also, survived by many cousins, relatives and her boyfriend, Nathan Quinlan of Glenville; who all loved her very much. Calling hours will be from 4-8 pm, Friday, Feb. 3, 2017. in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065. Funeral services will be held Saturday Feb. 4, 2017, 10:00 am, at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY 12065. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erica Lynn Ladu Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home office.
