On January 16, 2017, Christine Martone, age 91, peacefully entered into eternal life. She was a communicant of St. Bonaventure Parish from its inception. Formerly Christine Comiskey, she was the loving wife of Edward J. Martone for 48 years who predeceased her in 1996. She is survived by three children, Karen Martone Carletta (Charles), Ned Martone, and Kathleen Martone Zwolinski (Steven).
She was also the beloved "Nina" to 5 grandchildren, Christopher Zwolinski, Christine Carletta, Matthew Zwolinski, Lauren Zwolinski Pritchett, and Charles Carletta, Jr. Christine was the daughter of Richard J. She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Nancy Comiskey, Lois Dugan, and Betty Martone, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. All of Christine's friends and family, including her closest friends, Phyllis Martone and Helen Dowd, and her fiancé Lindy Renaldi who predeceased her, brought great joy to her life. She especially loved the annual Comiskey Thanksgiving Eve dinners at Verdiles for over 35 years, which boasted over 45 relatives every year. She also enjoyed her many family events with the Martone family over the years and spending time with her brother-in-laws William, Robert, and Vincent Martone and their families.
Christine was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1943, and she enjoyed many reunions and meetings with her classmates. Upon graduation, she was employed by Behr Manning for several years. After her children were grown, she worked for the Rensselaer County Veteran Affairs office and then later for the Rensselaer County Legislature and was the Deputy Clerk when she retired. She was involved in many activities including the American Cancer Society, where she raised funds for the first cobalt machine in the Capital District, was the former President of both the Knickerbocker Junior High School as well as the Lansingburgh High School's PTAs, former President of Rensselaer County Women's Republican Club, member of Home Bureau of Rensselaer County, an officer and program director for AARP local chapter, and played bocce at the Italian Community Center in Troy. Christine also loved to garden and play cards with her friends.
Special thanks to Dr. James Cioffi, her long time trusted physician, and to those who were involved in her care at the Cohoes Eddy Village Green.
